Welcome to the County of Sacramento Auditor-Controller Division website. The
Auditor-Controller Division provides central support services to 37 county departments, 70 special
districts and a variety of other government agencies and taxpayers in the Sacramento area.
The Auditor-Controller Division is charged with maintaining financial
records on the County's integrated financial, logistics and human resource
system (COMPASS). Some of the division's other duties include: process
vendor payments for other county departments and special districts; assure
control over county warrant issuance; perform countywide recordkeeping
and financial activities related to capital asset and debt service accounting;
perform financial, compliance and internal control audits of various county
departments and special districts; distribution of court fines, preparation
of mandated cost claims for reimbursement; and the preparation of the
countywide cost plan. The Auditor-Controller is also responsible for providing
property tax accounting services to general taxpayers, County departments
and other governmental agencies.
The Auditor-Controller Division is in charge of preparing the County's Comprehensive Annual
Financial Report (CAFR), for which it has received the Government Finance Officers Association's
Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting award every year since 1989.
In addition, as required by the State Controller's Office, the Division
also prepares the Annual Report of Financial Transactions for the county
and 35 special districts.
